Superintendent Williams recommended that the board delay action on agenda item 9.08 (a budget amendment) so members could receive additional funding information during executive session. Jasmine Drain, the district’s attorney who attended the meeting by phone, advised that no formal motion had yet been made and recommended tabling the discussion so the board could review additional information in executive session.
The board voted to table discussion of item 9.08 until after executive session; the motion carried by unanimous voice/hand vote. The board also voted unanimously to postpone the second reading of the 2025–26 budget and to hold a special meeting on May 27 at 5 p.m. to consider the second reading.
After executive session the board returned to open session and the item that had been tabled was brought back to the floor. A board member moved to approve the budget amendment and a second was recorded; after a roll-call style count the chair announced the motion had failed. In executive session the board approved a slate of personnel recommendations for professional and administrative staff and accepted student admission and release recommendations; the public motions recorded after the executive session show those personnel and student actions carried unanimously.
Board members said they will reconvene on May 27 to consider the second reading of the 2025–26 budget once state revenue allocations and other funding information are finalized.
