Committee names three authorized users for USDA broadband grant reporting

The Agriculture, Planning and Tourism Committee on May 20 approved a resolution naming three authorized users for reporting on a USDA grant that funds tower upgrades by Hudson Valley Wireless to expand broadband coverage across Washington County.
"Even in order to get access to their systems to report, they require a board level resolution naming the people who are authorized to use the system," county staff member Laura said as she described the reporting requirement.
Laura said the three named roles are: the representative signature certifier (Laura, who will review reports entered by Hudson Valley Wireless), an administrator (Al, to have system access), and a consultant (Jason Guzzo, to enter reporting). The committee moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by voice vote.
Staff said there was no separate administrative funding in the USDA award and that the county will rely on Hudson Valley Wireless to enter most of the data into the USDA reporting system; county staff will review entries and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. The resolution will allow the named people to obtain access credentials and submit or certify the required grant reporting on behalf of the county.
The committee did not change the grant award or funding; the action was limited to naming authorized users so the county can comply with USDA reporting requirements and continue project administration with Hudson Valley Wireless.
