The Warren County Human Services Committee on May 21 voted to send a $7,500 repair request from Veterans Services to the county finance committee, with the source of funding to be determined.
The vehicle is used to transport veterans to and from the Department of Veterans Affairs and also serves seniors and other members of the public. Rob, a Veterans Services representative, said, "This is very important, it's a large amount. I think it's, dollars 7,500," and noted the vehicle is likely near the end of its service life and is scheduled for replacement next year.
Committee members discussed funding limits. A staff member said, "we can't really transfer money from a revenue code into to this repair. So if we're going to do this, we're gonna have to take it out of contingency." Supervisors also suggested checking deferred revenues from prior contracts—specifically funds tied to AirSteers and the county's contract with SUNY Adirondack—as a possible alternative to contingency funds.
A motion to refer the request to the finance committee, "with a source of funding to be determined for the transfer," carried on a voice vote.
The finance committee will determine whether to fund the repair from contingency, deferred revenues, or another source and whether to approve repairs now or finance a replacement next year.
