Supervisors approve easement for Slick Fiber node; county to receive four network connections

Washington County supervisors approved granting an easement to Slick Fiber for a small equipment pad and cabinet on county property in Hudson Falls.
County staff described the installation as a roughly 10-foot-by-10-foot concrete pad that would house a cabinet and generator to improve redundancy and extend service to about 6,200 locations in the area. Staff said the installation would provide service to some currently unserved customers and act as a backup to maintain service when other providers experience outages.
In exchange for the easement, Slick Fiber offered to provide standard network connections to up to four county properties where Slick Fiber offers service. Staff said the buildings-and-grounds superintendent reviewed the site and concluded it would not interfere with county operations.
Supervisors voted to approve the easement; the motion carried on voice vote with Supervisor Mary recording opposition.
Ending: County staff said the easement agreement would be finalized subject to review by the county attorney and that the county would identify which four properties would receive the offered connections.
