Pondera County commissioners voted May 21 to approve a three-year audit contract with Nexus DPA Group to replace the retiring Denning, Downing and Associates.
County staff explained the base fee without a federal audit is $33,190 in the first year, rising to $35,200 by year three. If a federal single-audit is required, the county was told an additional annual fee of $8,000 would apply this year, with a projected $200 annual increase in future years.
The staff presentation noted the new contract reflects a change in ownership rather than a wholesale vendor change: the firm will continue to use the CPA who worked on county audits previously, according to the meeting record. Commissioners moved and seconded the contract approval and approved it by voice vote during the contracts discussion.
