Monongalia County Schools held a commencement ceremony in Monongalia County, West Virginia, honoring 44 members of the Class of 2025, school officials said during the program. "Congratulations to the class of 2025," a student speaker told the audience.
The graduation recognized students who completed required coursework and state-mandated certifications. A faculty speaker told graduates, "You already have what it takes to climb every mountain ahead of you," urging them to apply teamwork and perseverance beyond high school.
During the ceremony, graduates processed to the stage to receive diplomas from school officials and members of the board of education. Presenters included Dr. Campbell and Mrs. Schimmel, and students were greeted on stage by school representatives. As part of the ceremony the class followed the traditional turning of the tassel from the right to the left to signify the transition from students to graduates.
The program included speeches from both a graduating student and a faculty member, the reading of graduates' names, the singing of the alma mater and a closing announcement that "This concludes our graduation ceremony. Graduates, you may now toss your cap." The ceremony closed with the alma mater and the customary cap toss.
No formal board business, votes or policy decisions were conducted as part of this event; the gathering was a ceremonial recognition of student completion of academic and certification requirements described during the program.
