The Central Valley School Board on May 22 approved the preliminary/proposed final general fund budget for the 2025-26 school year, showing $46,621,225 in revenue and $47,170,679 in expenditures and reflecting a 0.51-mill tax increase.
The board described the action as a tentative step required by the school code: final adoption must occur at least 30 days after tentative adoption and the budget must be available for public review at least 20 days before final adoption.
Board member Mister Ambrose presented finance items that were bundled with the budget motion, including confirmation of April general fund payments of $1,928,283.98 and cafeteria fund payments of $79,367.24 and approval of the Berkheimer report for April 2025. Ambrose also reported that Highmark health insurance renewal rates for 2025-26 reflect a 16% increase; the board also approved two-year renewals for Vision Benefits of America and Guardian Dental with no rate increases for the listed periods.
The motion to adopt the preliminary/proposed final budget was moved and seconded on the record; the vote passed and the motion carried.
Board officials said the budgeted figures are subject to the formal final-adoption process required by the school code, including a public review period and subsequent formal vote.
