Parents raise building-condition concerns at Dunlap CUSD 323 meeting; pool locker rooms, long-delayed construction cited

During the Dunlap CUSD 323 board’s public-participation period, several residents raised concerns about building conditions at district schools, including the pool locker rooms and delayed construction at Ronald Reagan School.

One resident criticized slow progress on facility repairs and referenced taxes being used for schools. “This kind of stuff to me is just nonsense,” the speaker said, urging the district to complete construction so students need not go outside or use inadequate facilities.

Another speaker identified as Natalie asked the board to view photos of the pool and locker rooms and described the locker-room conditions as challenging for breathing; she asked the board to include the pool facilities on a future tour and to show the locker-room conditions to the board.

The board packet included an information item noting the Hickory Grove facility dog application and other facility-related items; board staff said informational materials were available in the packet and that public comments are typically referred to administration for follow-up rather than addressed at the podium. The board did not take formal action on facility repairs during the meeting.
