The Board of Trustees authorized Tom Savino, the village community development coordinator, to draft contracts and pursue engagement with trade professionals who responded to the village’s recent request for proposals for façade improvement work.
"This just gives them the authorization to deal directly with vendors and the contractors," Mayor Pereira said, noting Savino also administers the village’s Community Development Block Grant program, which is used for storefront façades and residential rehabilitation.
Under the authorization, village staff will seek to select two trade professionals for each of three categories: sign makers, electricians and an awning company. The motion authorizes drafting contracts to engage both a primary and a secondary contractor in each category, consistent with the rankings by Savino and staff.
Trustee Casado moved the motion and Deputy Mayor Sartorius seconded; the board approved the resolution unanimously.
Officials said the authority will streamline contracting related to façade improvements funded under CDBG and similar local programs; no contract awards were announced at the meeting and staff said they will return procurement documents as required by village procurement rules.
