The Jim Wells County Commissioners Court approved the offer to purchase a tax-foreclosed parcel (suit number 09.030.1469-B) and recorded the distribution of sale proceeds among taxing entities.
County staff presented the account number and legal description from the county map and plat records, reported the judgment date (Dec. 11, 2023) and the sale date (April 2, 2024). The recorded bid was $12,300 and the cost of sale was $3,021.54. From the proceeds, Jim Wells County will receive $3,864.13; the City of Alice will receive $2,320.32; Alice Independent School District will receive $1,920.61; and the Alice Water Authority will receive $767.49. City of Alice special assessments were listed at $405.91.
A motion to approve the distribution was made, seconded and carried by voice vote; no roll-call votes were read on the record.
Why it matters: the approval completes the county’s process for disposing of tax-foreclosed property and allocates proceeds to local taxing jurisdictions as required under state law and county practice.
