Jim Wells County Commissioners court approved certification of $21,765.60 in proceeds from a county auction to be used by Road and Bridge Precinct 1 for equipment purchases.

Commissioner Spar moved to certify the funds and requested a 2025 budget amendment to add the proceeds to Fund 21 and allocate the amount to equipment purchases through BuyBoard. The court approved the certification and the requested budget adjustment by voice vote.

Why it matters: the certification formally makes auction proceeds available for specific capital purchases in Road and Bridge Precinct 1 and triggers a budget amendment process. County staff said the proceeds came from a recent county auction and that the funds are available for appropriation.

County staff clarified certification procedure: if funds from a sale are not already a budgeted revenue line item and an official requests a specific expense line, certification and a budget amendment are required. The county auditor (Cindy) explained that if the revenue is already budgeted, certification is not necessary.

The court recorded the motion, a second and a voice vote approving the certification. No individual roll-call votes were read on the record.
