The City of Lacey announced that applications are open for the Lacey Youth Council for the 2025–2026 school year, inviting incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors from North Thurston Public Schools and other Lacey‑area schools to apply. City staff member said the advisory body meets twice a month during the school year and provides youth perspectives to the Lacey City Council.
The youth council offers participants more than 30 hours of community service per year and a $50 stipend per meeting attended, capped at $500 annually, the city said. "You can even earn 30 plus hours of community service or a $50 stipend per meeting attended up to $500 per year," City staff member said.
Applications are available on the City of Lacey website; the announcement did not specify an application deadline. The city characterized the Youth Council as an advisory body that helps bring youth viewpoints into city policymaking.
