Redevelopment Commission staff gave a construction update on the Eleventh Street Station at the May 22 meeting, saying the project is nearing completion and highlighting recent progress on interior work and exterior access.
"You're really gonna be amazed when you go in it. It's really beautiful," staff said after visiting the site, noting the building now has glass in the front historic facade, interior conditioning, painting and elevators installed. Staff said the historic sign work and concrete for exterior ramps were upcoming items to provide public access to the restored facade.
The presentation acknowledged coordination challenges: deliveries for a nearby tower and water department work required short holds on some operations. Staff described the project as having multiple moving parts given the proximity of a new tower and ongoing utilities work.
No formal votes or changes to contract terms were taken; the update was informational.
