Board celebrates Southington High School valedictorian, salutatorian and welcomes new student representatives

The board honored the high school's valedictorian and salutatorian and ceremonially inducted two incoming student representatives for 2025–26.
The Southington Board of Education opened part of its May meeting by honoring student achievement and welcoming the next cohort of student representatives.
Administrators introduced and recognized Emily Thompson, the senior class scholar and an SCS (salutatorian/valedictorian role identified in the meeting) who will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Kriti (first name given) the salutatorian, who will attend the University of Connecticut; and Kai (given as Kai, identified as the graduating valedictorian) who will attend the University of Connecticut Storrs. Each student was presented with certificates of excellence by the board.
The board also thanked outgoing student representatives Lauren and Acre for their service and introduced the two new student representatives for the coming year: sophomore Arshy Roy and junior Samra Singh. Both new representatives addressed the board, describing their involvement in school clubs and programs and expressing enthusiasm for representing the student voice.
Board members and administrators offered personal remarks and encouragement to the students. "Our future is bright," the chair said at one point while addressing the graduates and student representatives. The recognitions were ceremonial and no board action was required.
