The Muskego Library Board’s selection committee set a timeline May 20 for hiring a new library director: applications are due June 6, the committee will review applications June 12 and the board is being asked to reserve time for final candidate interviews the week of June 30, the committee chair said.
David, the board trustee leading the search committee, told trustees the committee expects to conduct 30‑minute first‑round interviews (virtual or in‑person) for a reduced pool of candidates on June 12 and then select three or four finalists for full‑board interviews. The full‑board interviews are planned for late afternoon sessions (1–6 p.m.) on June 30 or July 1, with 45‑minute interviews and time for board discussion between candidates.
The committee asked trustees to keep June 18–23 and June 30–July 1 windows available while the committee finalizes scheduling. David said the goal is to complete interviews and, if a choice is clear, negotiate an offer in late June so an incoming director could provide notice to a current employer and begin in August or early September.
The committee plans to provide trustees with candidate materials in advance of final interviews, solicit questions from the full board, and arrange for finalist meetings with staff so employees can meet and provide input. Committee members also discussed routine vetting such as reviewing public social media and front‑facing pages as part of background checks.
Board members agreed the committee should proceed with the posted timeline; the committee will send a scheduling survey to the full board for the preferred final interview dates and time blocks.
