The South Washington County Schools Board voted May 22 to place an assistant principal on unrequested leave of absence effective at the end of the 2024–25 school year, the district's executive director of human resources told the board.
"The assistant principal received written notice of the proposed placement on ULA on 04/25/2025. The assistant principal was provided the opportunity to request a hearing over the placement on unrequested leave within 14 days of receiving the notice," Abby Baker, Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations, said while presenting the resolution.
Baker said administration met contractual obligations that allow the board to take final action on the matter and recommended approval of the resolution. The board moved to take final action and approved the resolution by roll‑call vote.
Recorded roll‑call responses in the transcript show the following board members voting yes: Louise Hines; Ryan Clark; Sharon Van Leer; Eric Tesser; Melinda Doles; Simi Petnayak; and Katie Schwartz. The chair announced, "Motion passes."
The resolution as read placed the assistant principal on unrequested leave effective at the end of the school year; the administration did not provide additional personnel details in the public meeting record. The assistant principal had been given the notice and the opportunity to request a hearing within the 14‑day window, as described by Baker.
