The City Council approved a planned‑development amendment for Fujifilm (Case PLZ2025‑061) on May 20, 2025, allowing a canopy encroachment into the required front building setback at 1200 West Jackson Road.
Development Services staff said the amendment reduces the standard 25‑foot front setback to 11 feet to allow a canopy over service areas and employee queuing. Staff reviewed the submittal with building and fire departments and recommended conditions to ensure fire access, including an option for an automated gate system where perimeter fencing could limit apparatus access.
An applicant representative spoke in favor and said the site remains adequately parked even after the removal of 12 spaces that will be displaced by the canopy. Several nearby property owners were listed as having been noticed; staff said no opposition was registered in public comment at the hearing.
Councilmember Klein made the motion to approve and Councilmember Waters seconded it; the council approved the amendment unanimously.
