Three residents and a housing nonprofit representative told the Pecos City Council Thursday that a local home‑repair program has helped elderly and fixed‑income homeowners repair roofs, windows and structural walls.
Jeremy De Montez, financial coordinator for the Bigus Housing Financial Corporation, introduced residents who testified about recent projects. Rosa Carrasco and Leymah Tercero described roofs, windows and exterior repairs completed through the program; Carrasco said the work “was a big blessing” and thanked John Salcedo and De Montez by name. Speakers asked the council to continue to support the local home‑repair program and noted the work draws residents into downtown business areas after repairs are finished.
De Montez said the organization is local, has ongoing projects (he referred to “project number 52”), and that staff are finishing work on additional homes. No formal council action was taken; the remarks were received as public comment and proponents asked the council to consider continued support for local repair programs serving elderly and low‑income residents.
