Lee County approves several zoning petitions including church, mini-warehouse and fire district variance

Lee County commissioners approved multiple land-use petitions including a church special-use permit, a mini-warehouse special use and a setback variance for a fire district.
The board approved Petition 25-PD-1646, allowing Grace Fellowship Church to operate at 504 West Main Street in Sublette; the parcel is zoned R-2 (single-family residential) and is about 0.9 acres. Commissioners also approved Petition 25-PD-1641, a special-use permit for a mini-warehouse (self-storage) proposed at 601 Rock Island Road in Dixon on a 2.22-acre I-1 (planned industrial) parcel. Both motions passed on voice votes.
Separately, the board approved a variance for the Compton Community Fire Protection District from Lee County Code (Title 10, Chapter 9, Section 3) to accommodate side and rear yard setbacks for a proposed new fire station on a 2.56-acre, AG-1–zoned lot at 748 Illinois Route 251 in Brooklyn Township. The variance was granted because the lot’s irregular shape made compliance with setback requirements impractical, the board recorded.
Earlier in the meeting the board also approved a parcel resolution for Joseph Meyer related to property in Woodhaven Lakes; that matter passed without discussion.
