Zellmar said he is employed by Aaron’s as a painter and that his family and local support organizations (including Broken Yoke Ministries and Forward Services) are part of his relapse‑prevention plan.
Multiple witnesses spoke in favor of Zellmar, including program staff who said he had been active in restorative work, a Marquette University professor who described his role as a student and tutor in prison‑education classes, and family members who pledged housing and accountability. Adam and Shannon (identified in the transcript) and others spoke by video connection; several family members attended in person.
Board members discussed the seriousness of the offenses and the applicant’s long sentence, but several members noted clear evidence of remorse, documented treatment, active reentry engagement and local support.
