County staff said the agreement follows the same approach used last year but that one municipality previously included has withdrawn and will collect separately. The presenter said Alto Pass (as referenced during the meeting) had indicated it would not participate and would collect locally; staff also said they had not yet received one municipality's signed return at the time of the meeting but expected it.
A motion to approve the intergovernmental agreement carried with affirmative votes from Commissioners Harville, Pitts, Miller, Bierstadt and Gould.
Board members discussed that the county cannot be doubly taxed and that the agreement ensures a single taxing jurisdiction applies the hotel-operator occupancy tax for the covered areas. The board did not alter the draft agreement during the meeting.
