Landmarks staff warn SHPO CLG funding may be cut; local subgrants remain on hold

She explained the hold affects awarded CLG subgrants and that Green Bay was on a wait list for this year's CLG subgrant application. "Even the ones who were awarded for this year are on hold because the money hasn't been released," Stephanie said.
Staff emphasized the local importance of CLG funding. Stephanie said the CLG subgrants are the commission's only funding source for preservation work in Green Bay and pay for surveys, National Register nominations, educational programming and marketing. "If that all gets cut, we would not have extra monies to do surveys, National Register listings, any educational things, marketing things," she told the commission and asked members to contact elected officials.
Jason, a staff member, also described recent outreach and presentation work the commission's staff performed with nearby communities at preservation conferences; staff said they were invited to repeat the roundtable at the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) annual conference in October.
No formal action was taken on the funding or staff-update items; the meeting record shows this as an informational staff update.
