Allegheny County Council appoints Jordan Bonna as interim District 13 member

Allegheny County Council appointed Jordan Bonna as the interim member representing District 13 and administered his oath of office during the council meeting.

Council’s Democratic caucus chair moved to nominate Bonna; the nomination was seconded and approved by roll call. The clerk announced the vote as 11 in favor and 2 opposed; the nomination passed and Bonna was sworn in before the council.

After the oath, Bonna introduced himself and described his background and priorities. “I’m Jordan Bonna. I’m a fifth‑generation Pittsburgher and the executive director of the 3 Rivers Business Alliance, the LGBT Chamber of Commerce in Southwestern Pennsylvania,” he said. Bonna said he has lived and worked across multiple neighborhoods in the district and emphasized community service and accessibility: “Starting immediately, my priorities are clear. I will fight tooth and nail for funding for PRT, for equitable business practices across the region, for affordable housing, for reinvestment in our infrastructure, and for building strong local economic development.”

Bonna also said he is the first openly gay member of Allegheny County Council. “It’s not lost on me that I have the honor of serving as the first openly gay member of Allegheny County Council,” he said.

The nomination was introduced by the Democratic caucus chair (motion recorded in the minutes). The clerk recorded the roll call and confirmed the nomination passed by the announced tally. Bonna took the oath and then spoke briefly about his intent to prioritize transparency and accessibility in his work for the district.

The council did not take a separate formal vote to confirm a length of service at that meeting; the appointment filled the current interim vacancy.
