Planning commission weighs renaming Coney Island Park; parks staff to be consulted

Commissioners and staff noted that changing a park name is a larger undertaking involving Parks & Recreation and community sentiment. ‘‘I think it's a lot of work to change the name of a landmark in the city, but, it's not impossible,’’ one commissioner said.
Members asked staff to consult the Parks & Recreation advisory body and return with their views. Commissioners agreed a community survey or discussion with Parks & Recreation would be an appropriate next step rather than advancing a recommendation immediately.
