Court approves Stamping Ground community market request and waivers for vendors

The Scott County Fiscal Court approved a citizen request May 20 to allow a community farmers market in Stamping Ground on county-owned property adjoining Jeff Thompson Drive.
Magistrate Dale Perry described the request as a volunteer-run farmers market that would use the county lot in front of Jeff Thompson Drive and likely operate on a reduced schedule this year (every other week or monthly rather than weekly). He said the event would use the county's vendor-waiver process; vendors would sign waivers and the court has in prior years waived business-license fees for vendor dates when a calendar is provided.
The court discussed logistics such as signage to keep a lane open for traffic and the event's proximity to tornado shelters. Court members said EMS access had not been interrupted by past events and that additional signage had been added in subsequent years to maintain traffic flow. Magistrate Rob Jones moved to approve and Dwayne Ellison seconded; the court approved the motion by voice vote.
