Board approves facility projects, food contract and OFCC agreements totaling multimillions

The Cleveland Municipal School District Board of Education on Tuesday approved seven operations resolutions authorizing facility and operational work for the 2025–26 school year, including agreements with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission and large service contracts.
Resolutions 8.01–8.07 passed by roll call. The authorizations included an amount not to exceed $15,425,000 to maintain and prepare district facilities for May 2025 through June 2026, authority to purchase food, supplies and services for student meal programs for 2025–26 in an amount not to exceed $14,500,000, a $1,619,244 contingency/increase for the new John F. Kennedy High School athletic stadium, a $1,600,000 track and field renovation at Robert Bump Taylor Field, and authorization to auction property no longer needed for district purposes. The board also authorized execution of segment agreements with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission.
Board member Mister Billups highlighted the food procurement item and the farm‑to‑school standard included in the contract, saying he wanted the feature to be noticed and expressing a hope to extend it to more buildings. "What the kids eat for breakfast, and what they eat for lunch will affect what they can do in the classroom," he said.
Doctor Morgan told the board those operations resolutions were unchanged from the May 13 work session. The board adopted the resolutions in a unanimous roll call.
The motions authorize district officials (CEO, board chair and CFO where required) to execute agreements and take actions described in the resolutions. Staff said no additional adjustments to the resolutions were presented at the meeting.
