Board adopts wide package of policy updates, retires older policies

The Mount Lebanon Board of School Directors voted unanimously on May 21 to adopt a group of updated district policies and to retire several older policies.
The package adopted by the board includes Policy 121 (student trips); 313 (evaluation of employees); 317 (conduct and disciplinary procedures); 317.1 (educator misconduct); 324 (personnel files); 325 (dress and grooming); 326 (complaint process); 333 (professional development); 334 (sick leave); 335 (family medical leaves); 336 (personal necessity leave); 338 (sabbatical leave); 339 (uncompensated leave); 702 (gifts, grants and donations); 702.1 (crowdfunding); 707 (use of facilities); 708 (lending of equipment and books); 710 (use of facilities by staff); and 824 (maintaining professional adult‑student boundaries). The board also retired a set of older policies listed on the agenda.
Board member Miss Burdick moved the motion to adopt the policies; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll‑call vote with all members present voting aye. The board’s policy committee had reviewed the proposed changes in advance and the full package was brought forward for adoption as a group.
At the same meeting the board also set voting delegates for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association annual conference; two board members abstained from that roll call because they were appointed as delegates, as clarified during the meeting.
