Cary 26 board holds organization meeting; Dee Darling elected president, committee roles assigned

After certifying April 1 election results, the Cary CCSD 26 Board of Education swore in new members, elected Dee Darling as board president, and assigned committee chairs and representatives for the 2025–26 school year.
The Cary Community Consolidated School District 26 Board of Education on April 28 certified the consolidated election results, administered oaths of office to newly elected members and completed its annual organization meeting. The McHenry County Clerk certified that 35,177 ballots were cast in the consolidated election; the clerk's certification name-checked those elected from the district's races.
The board formally swore in Bridget Sandlin and other newly elected trustees and then held officer elections. Dee Darling was elected board president; Mindy Hartman was elected vice president; and Julie Jetty was elected secretary. The board also appointed David Shepherd as treasurer and Laura Dorpler as recording secretary pro tem. Chairmanships and committee assignments were announced: Jason Jancic as finance chair, Julie Jetty as curriculum chair, Catherine Potter as policy chair and appointments to insurance, community engagement, technology, ethics commission and legislative liaison roles were made.
The board set regular meeting dates for the 2025–26 school year, scheduling monthly meetings to begin at 6 p.m. at Cary Junior High. Trustees agreed to adjust the August meeting calendar to move the Committee of the Whole to Aug. 11, 2025, and the regular board meeting to Aug. 25, 2025, to avoid conflict with back-to-school events. Administration agreed to confirm availability and provide reports on the adjusted schedule.
Board members congratulated outgoing trustee Anne Santucci for four years of service and thanked Deer Path School students and staff for school-spotlight presentations earlier in the meeting.
The organization meeting fulfilled Open Meetings Act requirements to elect officers and put the board in place for the upcoming school year.
