ULCT updates: mitigation fund unchanged for now; state homeless council pursuing systemic changes

ULCT staff reported May 21 that the Legislative Policy Committee had previously voted to leave the mitigation fund unchanged for now while the state considers broader systemic changes to homelessness policy.
ULCT said the state homeless council is considering a new campus model and a state housing plan that would increase transitional housing and deeply affordable housing stock. Because those systemic proposals could change how mitigation funds operate, the LPC voted during the session to avoid immediate changes to the mitigation fund while work at the state level proceeds.
ULCT asked municipal officials operating homeless resource centers and equivalent facilities to expect outreach from Molly Wheeler, ULCT’s homelessness contact, who will pursue one-on-one conversations. "Molly's gonna be reaching out 1 on 1 to the cities that currently have homeless resource centers or equivalent facilities in your city," Cam said.
ULCT also said members who are not currently engaged but want to be involved in homelessness discussions should contact Molly for more information about the state-level work groups and how local practices may be recognized in any statewide plan.
