The Rosemount City Council on Tuesday adopted a proclamation declaring the week of May 18–24, 2025, as National Public Works Week, marking the American Public Works Association's 65th annual observance and recognizing the city's public works staff.
Public works staff described the department's role in snow removal, water supply, park maintenance, development inspection and building upkeep and asked the council to adopt the proclamation. "The 30 staff members of our public works department are the people who serve as the backbone of our organization," a city public works presenter said. "They are united by a common purpose to protect the health, safety, well-being, and quality of life in our community."
Mayor Jeffrey D. Wiesensoe read and signed the proclamation. Councilmembers adopted the resolution proclaiming the week and urged residents to thank public works professionals for day-to-day services that support community life.
No formal policy or budget actions were tied to the proclamation; staff presented the proclamation as recognition and public awareness of the public works department's functions.
