Community Development staff and planning commissioners worked on the draft language over multiple meetings; commissioners described the changes as aligning county rules with recent demand for rooftop and ground‑mounted solar and creating clear standards for review. The two motions — one adding definitions and the second updating permitted‑use tables across zoning districts — passed 4‑0.
The amendments adjust permit and siting language and will now be codified in Appendix 4 of the Spalding County zoning ordinance; county staff will incorporate the new use listings into permit checklists and advise applicants on standards for screening, setbacks and system mounting.
