Tewksbury honors community partners, outstanding educators and student artists at May meeting

Tewksbury — At its May meeting the School Committee presented community and educator recognitions and read proclamations honoring local partners and student artists.

The Ginsburg Family Award for outstanding partnership with Tewksbury Public Schools was presented to Wicked Cheesy, owned by Brian and Stephanie Scofield. The committee said the restaurant had been nominated by high-school principal Andrew Long, athletic director Ron Drewen and parent volunteer Kimberly Nadeau for more than a decade of support: hosting dine-out fundraisers, providing food for team events and offering student internships. Owners accepted and described a long-standing commitment to supporting youth sports, school events and mentoring programs.

The Chrissy Palomino Outstanding Educator Award was presented to two recipients: Katie Buck, a kindergarten teacher at Heath Brook School, and Steve Boudreaux, a physical-education teacher at the Ryan School who also coaches the high-school varsity boys’ basketball team. Nominators praised Buck’s classroom engagement and family outreach and Boudreaux’s mentorship across grade levels and his volunteer work with youth athletics.

The committee also read proclamations announcing winners of the 40th annual Tewksbury District Art Show. Nineteen high-school first-place ribbons and seven best-of-show winners across the district were named. The committee and art instructors praised student work and noted arts department efforts to connect elementary and high-school students through collaborative projects.

The recognitions included short remarks from recipients and teachers and concluded with group photographs. No formal board action beyond the proclamations was required.
