Superintendentreport details storm repairs, cart-path asphalt and greens maintenance at Atoka course

Trustees accepted the superintendent's report, which described post-storm repairs to cart paths, estimates for asphalt hauling, donated ground-up asphalt, soil testing for greens and newly arrived aerator needles.

The report summarized recent storm damage to cart paths where water had washed paths down “four or five inches” and staff recommended rebuilding the base with dirt and placing asphalt to prevent repeat washouts. Staff said they estimated $2,000 to cover asphalt and hauling for spreading on cart paths and noted the use of donated ground-up asphalt from a local source.

Trustees and staff discussed local contributions and contractors: chips (ground-up asphalt) were reported as provided by Larry Harden and hauled a short distance by John Harris; trustees praised the short haul and quality of the material. Staff reported soil tests had been done on the greens and that a consultant named Blake had visited to assess the greens and perform tests. The authority also confirmed that new aerator needles had been delivered and were on site, and staff said switching the needles would be straightforward.

Other maintenance items discussed included repair of tee boxes, use of a skid-steer and trailer to move materials, and the planned punching (aeration) of greens once sand is procured and weather permits; staff said sand quotes were pending and that one supplier had not yet returned freight/pricing. Trustees described frequent cart-path-only days between rains but said play continued and compliments had been received on course condition.

No formal vote was required to accept the superintendent's report; trustees moved and seconded acceptance and approved it by roll call. The board asked staff to obtain outstanding quotes (for sand and freight) and to follow up on volunteer or donated materials where applicable.
