Board adopts policy allowing nonvoting student member to attend meetings

Board members praised the guidelines prepared by district staff and said the addition will give students a formal channel for input without voting authority.
The board did not vote on a selection at the meeting; members said the policy sets the framework and staff will implement the process described in GP17. The measure passed unanimously.
Board members said they expect the student representative to provide perspective on student experience and to participate in board discussions as a nonvoting member under the policy’s terms.
