City moves ahead with new trash routes, awards bowling‑alley renovation, and gets pool update

City staff told council that Waste Connections proposed new garbage routes to equalize workload after growth in stops since the routes were last updated in 1997; the company plans to notify affected households the week of June 2 with a route change effective June 16.

Roger (city staff) said routes will be publicized via radio, social media and direct stickers to households whose pickup day changes. The change aims to keep crews in the same area of town and address staffing and timing problems identified since automated single‑driver pickups were introduced.

Council awarded a renovation contract for the Clinton Community Center bowling alley to Brunswick Bowling in the amount of $370,548. JB (community center staff) described the scope: replacement of ball returns, gutters, masking, back‑end equipment, new furniture and automated scoring; the existing lanes will be preserved and resurfaced as needed. The contract was recommended after sealed proposals received May 7 and the winning bid came in under budget, staff said.

On the pool project, staff said weather-related rain has delayed work by about a week; flooring, electrical, plumbing, interior painting and installation of fences, handrails and seating were scheduled in the next work windows. The armory contract is executed, but a work schedule had not yet been provided by the contractor, staff said.

Council took formal action to accept the bowling renovation bid; the trash-route changes will be implemented administratively by city staff and contractor notices. The pool and armory schedules will be updated to council as work progresses.
