Sylvia Richards, a council policy analyst, summarized the four grants. The Victims of Crime Act grant would fund portions of victim-advocate positions to improve services for victims of violent crime through the Unified Police Department and partner agencies. The Bonneville Shoreline Trailhead Land Purchase grant would preserve land to continue trail connections, enable trailhead facilities and protect winter elk habitat. The School Age Quality grant would fund salaries and benefits for 18 existing youth program instructors and support programming for kindergarten through sixth grade at six city youth sites. The Teen After School Prevention grant would fund two existing FTEs and six part-time positions and support after-school programming at three youth sites plus the city and county building.
No one registered to speak to these items. Councilmember Dugan moved to close the hearing and refer the grants to a future consent agenda; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
The referral sends the grant applications to the council’s routine consent process so staff can prepare formal adoption language and budget adjustments if the grants are awarded.
