Council approves iWORKS permitting software agreement to replace legacy system

The City Council on May 22 authorized the mayor to sign a professional services agreement with iWORKS Systems Inc. to provide community-development permitting and permit-tracking software.

Community Development Director Mark Hoffman summarized the procurement as a “third touch” item following committee review and said approval would preserve critical transition time: if the council acted, staff could call iWORKS the next day and preserve roughly five weeks of transition work. Hoffman also referenced a 60‑day termination letter sent to the prior vendor and the importance of scheduling a timely cutover.
Councilmembers praised the selection as right-sized and customer-friendly; members noted expected cost savings and improved training and support from the vendor. Hoffman emphasized that the vendor provides hands-on training, lower per-user costs and ongoing human support that staff expects will reduce implementation friction.
Action: The resolution authorizing the mayor to sign the iWORKS agreement was moved, seconded and adopted unanimously.
Ending: Staff will coordinate cutover, training and data migration and report progress to council during the transition period.
