The principal credited a student with overcoming health challenges to earn “meets on every standard,” and noted finalists in school competitions as examples of preparation and persistence. Capp also recognized students wearing yellow cords as IT achievers — those honored for scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship through the National Junior Honor Society standards.
As part of the ceremony, the district’s 2025 citizenship award recipient, student Samantha Manago, led the Pledge of Allegiance and later came forward during diploma confirmation. “On behalf of the eighth grade class of 02/2025, I proudly accept these diplomas,” Manago said.
Officials outlined logistics for diploma distribution: students were escorted to the lobby to receive physical diplomas and then directed to Exit Door 1, with staff members Mr. Velasco and Mr. Cantu releasing rows. The principal invited the Addison School District 4 Board of Education and school administration to confirm the diplomas on stage.
The ceremony included a presentation of colors by Addison Trail High School JROTC cadets and a long roll call of students’ names as they crossed the stage to receive their diplomas.
No formal board votes, ordinances or policy actions were taken during the event; the gathering was a school promotion and recognition ceremony.
