"This committee... would be driven towards any planning efforts, brainstorming, outreach of all things special events that are happening on a regional basis really leading up to the LA Olympics in 2028," staff said.
Commission discussion and appointment: Commissioners discussed the opportunity to market El Segundo and accommodate visitors to nearby venues such as SoFi Stadium. Commissioner comments noted local interest from residents asking what the city will do in preparation for 2028. One commissioner volunteered and accepted the appointment: "I accept," stated Melissa. The chair confirmed consensus and the appointment was recorded.
