Sylvania board appoints Andrew Ward as Whiteford Elementary principal

The Sylvania Board of Education voted May 19 to appoint Andrew Ward as principal of Whiteford Elementary School, effective Aug. 1, 2025, with the appointment running through July 30, 2027.
Andrew Ward, introduced by the superintendent at the meeting, said he previously served as an assistant principal in Springfield and holds a master's degree in school leadership from Concordia University and a master's in school counseling and a bachelor's in psychology from the University of Toledo. "First of all, thank you very much for approving me. I really appreciate it," Ward said after the board vote, and he introduced his wife and four children to those gathered.
Why it matters: the appointment fills the principal role at Whiteford Elementary School for the next two academic years and was approved by the board in public session. Ward said he and his family will join the Sylvania community from Perrysburg.
