Apple Valley launches new agendas/minutes website, posts State of the City video; council recognizes Public Works Week

City staff told the Apple Valley City Council on May 22 that a new consolidated agendas, minutes and packets website is live and that the City’s State of the City video broadcast is available on the city website; the council also recognized National Public Works Week.

Tom (staff) introduced the update and said Christina Scipiotti, City Clerk, would demonstrate the new platform. Christina Scipiotti said the new site, which went live the week of May 19, consolidates agendas, minutes and packets for the City Council, EDA and advisory commissions; it is mobile-friendly, searchable and displays meeting items individually so users can view a single agenda item without downloading an entire packet. She noted historical meeting files remain accessible via a link to the city’s legacy records and asked residents to update bookmarks because the URL changed.

Tom and council members said the city’s State of the City production was recorded and is already available on the website. Separately, the council adopted a proclamation recognizing National Public Works Week (May 18–24) and thanked public works staff for services including snow plowing, pavement maintenance, utilities, fleet repair, emerald ash borer response, water quality and cemetery maintenance. Public Works Director Matt Som and staff attended a recognition event; the council noted recent rapid responses to infrastructure incidents as an example of the department’s work.

Council members encouraged residents to acknowledge public works staff and department leadership; the mayor and council noted an informal photo and lunch event earlier in the week to mark the week.
