At the May 20 meeting the Eden Prairie City Council approved first reading of an ordinance revising city code references to match renumbered sections of the Minnesota State Fire Code and Minnesota State Building Code.
City staff said several sections of the state codes were renumbered when the state adopted updates (the fire code referenced changes made in 2020 and the building code renumbering dated to 2007) and that the proposed city ordinance simply aligns Eden Prairie's code cross-references with the state citations. Staff emphasized there is no substantive change to the city's fire- or building-code requirements.
A councilmember moved to approve the first reading of the ordinance amending city code section 9.05 (Minnesota State Fire Code) and section 10.01 (Minnesota State Building Code). The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
