"Some of the things that we're gonna be doing on the Tuesdays…is doing presentations on suicide prevention, how to recognize a person in crisis, not just veterans," Corley said, and listed planned partners including the Michigan City Police Department social worker, mental‑health providers and regional veterans' services.

Program details and partnerships
Corley said planned topics include suicide prevention, pet therapy for trauma/PTSD, and a suicide support group run by a local therapist. She said the commission is partnering with the Indiana Department of Veterans' Affairs and expects presentations and services to be provided at no cost to the city. Shannon, park staff, said the scheduling was adjusted to Tuesdays to avoid a conflict and that the senior center would be available after it closes at 5 p.m.

A board member moved and the board carried a motion to accept the Veterans Commission's use of the senior center on the stated recurring Tuesdays.
