Mayor and City Council introduced Patrick O'Brien at the May 20 meeting as the new city administrator; O'Brien said he will start with the city on June 16. He told the council he currently serves as director of civic engagement at Frostburg State and said he came to Frostburg 23 years ago as a student.
The mayor and council also announced that Elaine Jones, the city's Director of Finance, will depart city service on June 13. Council members thanked Jones for her years of service and noted her contributions to the city's financial management prior to the transition.
Patrick O'Brien addressed the council briefly, saying, "I'm very excited to be a part of the city," and the mayor welcomed him. The council did not take a vote in the meeting on administrative appointments; the announcement served as an introduction and start date notice.
