Members of the Community Engagement Commission and the Winterglow subcommittee said May 21 they will hold a public town hall on Monday, June 2, to gather community input on the future of the Winterglow event.
Subcommittee members described widespread public interest and said they are seeking volunteers to sustain the event if council asks for community support. Organizers plan social-media posts, A-frame posters, printed cards to hand out at Farmers Market and two upcoming Farmers Market appearances to broaden outreach beyond online audiences.
The group also plans to use a newly available live-polling feature through the city's online engagement platform to ask a few short questions during the two-hour town-hall window; respondents will be able to answer by phone in real time, organizers said. They will post A-frame signs about a week before the event and will continue follow-up promotion at Farmers Market and other venues.
Commissioners discussed volunteer recruitment strategies, including building an email list for volunteers and continuing volunteer outreach after June 2. Organizers said they will present town-hall feedback to city council quickly after the meeting to inform council's near-term decision.
Ending: Subcommittee members and commissioners asked colleagues to help promote the June 2 town hall and to identify volunteers; they said they will continue post-meeting outreach at Farmers Market and other city events.
