The Malden Board of Appeals appointed Member Catherine Bilgin as the Board’s associate member on the newly created Site Plan Review Committee for accessory dwelling units (ADUs), the board announced May 21.
City council action amended the Code of the City of Malden (section cited in the hearing) to add a subsection creating site-plan review for ADUs and to specify the committee’s composition. The ordinance text as read into the record describes the committee as consisting of three regular members — the building commissioner, the director of public health, and the director of OSPCD or their designee — and one associate member to be appointed by the Board of Appeals.
At the meeting the board asked for volunteers; Member Catherine Bilgin volunteered and the board accepted her nomination. The appointment makes Bilgin the alternate voting member of the SPRC-ADU when needed.
Board members framed the change as administrative implementation of the council’s amendment; no additional conditions were recorded at the hearing.
