Workshop closes with comment deadlines for four utilities’ wildfire mitigation plans

The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety closed a public workshop Friday after an open question-and-answer period and reminded stakeholders of upcoming deadlines to submit opening comments on the 2026–2028 wildfire mitigation plans of four electrical corporations.
The reminder matters because the opening comment period is the first formal opportunity for stakeholders and members of the public to submit written feedback to the docket that the office is using to review each utility’s wildfire mitigation plan. A staff member facilitating the workshop said attendees should use the docket listed on the workshop slides to submit comments and find posted materials.
During closing remarks, the workshop facilitator, a staff member, announced the opening-comment deadlines for each utility: Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG&E) on Friday, May 23; Bear Valley on Friday, May 30; San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) on Friday, June 13; and Southern California Edison (SCE) on Friday, June 27. "These are the opening comment dates," the facilitator said. The facilitator also said the workshop slides and the recording would be posted to the 2026–2028-based Wildfire Mitigation Plan docket by the end of the week, which the facilitator identified as Friday, May 23.
The facilitator reminded attendees they could raise questions during the open Q&A, submit questions or comments in the chat, or provide feedback later via email. The facilitator said feedback on the workshop format — including structure, topics and timing — should be sent directly to the facilitator’s email (previously posted in the chat).
Workshop materials, including the slides and the recording, will be available on the docket referenced in the presentation; the facilitator noted the docket also contains each electrical corporation’s data-request responses and summaries. No formal votes or regulatory decisions were taken during the workshop; it served as an informational session and an opportunity for stakeholder Q&A.
The facilitator closed the session by thanking participants for their questions and engagement and confirming the recording would be stopped and posted to the docket.
