Sean (parks staff) told the board that, under the city’s park ordinance, the Park Advisory Board reviews fees before recommending them to the City Council. Staff proposed adjustments in three primary areas: Aquatics (to align the new Romke/Ramke pool seasonal pass with comparable area pools), meeting room rates at the Young/“Yumkombe” community center to reflect post‑COVID market conditions, and moderate increases to golf fees to remain competitive locally.
Sean said the pool fee changes reflect new amenities and accessibility at the new pool and that the intent is to keep fees affordable while responding to increased seasonal wages, newly added concession operations and rising operational costs such as chemical supplies. A board member asked about rate strategy and staff said they looked at area comparators including Fargo pools and adjusted rates to be competitive.
Board member Aaron Gillum moved to approve the 2026 proposed fee schedule; Robert Ross seconded. The board voted unanimously in favor and the motion carried.
During discussion, board members asked about differences in tournament and field rates (for Centennial Fields and youth baseball uses) and Sean said some rates reflect existing multi‑year user contracts and that staff will review those differences and provide clarifications in follow‑up.
