Committee moves Sayre Ranch Municipal Utility District bill forward; Bastrop County commissioners unanimously supported district

Senator West explained that House Bill 5695 would create the Sayre Ranch Municipal Utility District in unincorporated Bastrop County between the cities of Elgin and Bastrop. The senator said the bill is template language and that the Bastrop County Commissioners Court unanimously adopted a resolution supporting the district; all affected landowners signed letters of support.
There was no public testimony during the committee hearing. Senator Paxton moved the bill be reported to the full Senate with the recommendation it pass and be printed; the committee recorded five ayes, zero nays and one member present not voting. The committee recommended placement on the local and contested calendars as appropriate.
