The Committee on Accountability, Finance and Personnel voted to waive Administrative Policy 3.099 and approved extensions to professional-service contracts for teletherapy services, making the service available across the district.
Director Zombor moved to waive the policy and approve the extension; the motion passed 5-0 on a committee roll call. Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius presented the item and said Janine Adamczyk and Dr. Travis Pinter were available to answer questions.
Travis Pinter, senior director of specialized services, told the committee teletherapy is offered to all schools equally and that families may access up to eight sessions; the service was initially funded with grant money that followed ESSER and is being extended while the district assesses results. Students are referred through school psychologists, social workers or other staff who contact families to determine interest.
Director Jackson asked about access and whether teletherapy is divided among schools; Pinter said the service is available districtwide and that referrals typically come through building staff. The committee approved the waiver and contract extensions in a single motion to streamline the process.
The vote authorizes the administration to continue teletherapy services under existing funding arrangements while the district evaluates the program’s effectiveness and determines next steps.
